How to connect pipes to a socket gate valve?
2025-12-03 15:54:07
The pipe connection methods for socket gate valves are mainly of two types: socket connection and flange connection. The specific method to be used should be determined based on the type of pipeline and the interface format. Socket connection is suitable for socket-type pipelines such as ductile iron pipes, and is sealed using rubber rings or cement. To perform the socket connection, insert the end of the pipe with the socket into the socket of the gate valve, ensuring proper alignment. Then, fill the gap between the two parts with a sealing material—either a rubber ring for flexible sealing or expanded cement for rigid sealing.
Flange connection is suitable for flange-type pipelines such as steel pipes or stainless steel pipes. In this case, matching flanges must be used, and the bolts must be tightened. Ensure that the flanges of the gate valve and the pipeline are parallel and coaxial. When tightening the bolts, use bolts of the same specification, with the exposed length being 1/2 of the bolt diameter, and ensure that the bolts are aligned in the same direction.
Precautions for installing socket gate valves: Before installation, the pressure in the pipeline must be released, and the connection surfaces must be cleaned. The rubber ring used must match the dimensions of the socket, and the cement used for sealing must be applied evenly.
