Maintenance procedure for industrial ball valves
Standard maintenance procedure for industrial ball valves:
**Disassembly and marking:** Record the relative positions of the valve body, valve stem, and actuator, and take photographs for documentation.
**Dismantle the valve:** Remove the actuator and valve cover bolts, then carefully separate the valve cover. Extract the ball, seat, valve stem, and other internal components with care to avoid damaging the sealing surfaces.
**Cleaning and inspection:** Use a compatible cleaner to remove oil, resin deposits, and dust. Avoid prolonged immersion of non-metallic parts. Check for scratches/corrosion on the sealing surfaces, bending of the valve stem, and aging of O-rings.
**Repair or replacement:** Minor damage to the sealing surfaces can be repaired by grinding. In cases of severe wear, replace the valve seat or ball. It’s recommended to replace all seals (O-rings, gaskets, packing) with new ones.
**Assembly:** Clean the new parts and apply a thin layer of compatible lubricant. Tighten the bolts symmetrically, gradually, and evenly to prevent flange deformation.
**Testing:** Manually test the valve’s operability and perform a leak test using nitrogen or air, applying pressure to both sides of the seal while the valve is in a semi-open position.
