Ball valve sealing performance
The main sealing ring material for ball valves is polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which is inert to almost all chemicals and has comprehensive characteristics such as low friction coefficient, stable performance, low aging, wide temperature applicability, and excellent sealing performance. However, the physical properties of polytetrafluoroethylene, including its high coefficient of expansion, sensitivity to cold flow, and poor thermal conductivity, require that the design of valve seat seals must revolve around these characteristics. The plastic materials used for valve seat sealing also include filled polytetrafluoroethylene, nylon, and many other materials. However, when the sealing material becomes hard, the reliability of the seal is compromised, especially under low pressure differentials. In addition, synthetic rubber such as nitrile rubber can also be used as a valve seat sealing material, but its applicable medium and temperature range are limited. Additionally, if the medium is not lubricated, using synthetic rubber can easily trap the sphere.

In order to meet the requirements of industrial applications such as high temperature, high pressure, strong erosion, and long service life, metal sealed ball valves have made great progress in the past decade. Especially in industrialized countries such as the United States, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands, the structure of ball valves has been continuously improved, resulting in the emergence of fully welded valve body buried ball valves, lift ball valves, and more widely used ball valves in industrial fields such as long-distance pipelines and oil refining units. Large diameter (3050mm), high pressure (70MPa), and wide temperature range (-196~815 ℃) ball valves have emerged, bringing ball valve technology to a new level.
