The function of a safety valve
The function of safety valves is to prevent the pressure of the medium in pipelines or equipment from exceeding specified values, thereby achieving the purpose of safety protection.

A safety valve is a type of safety protection valve whose closure element remains in a normally closed state under external force. When the medium pressure within equipment or pipelines rises and exceeds the specified value, it automatically opens to release the medium to the outside, preventing the medium pressure from exceeding the set limit. As an automatic valve, it is primarily used in boilers, pressure vessels, and pipelines to control pressure within specified limits, playing a crucial protective role for personal safety and equipment operation.
Safety valves can be classified into low-lift safety valves and full-lift safety valves based on the opening height of the valve disc. The opening stroke height of a low-lift safety valve is ≤0.05d0 (minimum discharge throat diameter), while that of a full-lift safety valve is ≤0.25d0 (minimum discharge throat diameter).
