How to install a sewage check valve?

The installation of a drain check valve is a process that requires precise operation. It is essential to select an appropriate installation location: the drain check valve should be placed in a position that facilitates easy operation and maintenance, usually near the drain pipe, to ensure effective removal of wastewater. At the same time, it should be avoided installing the valve in humid or corrosive environments.

Before installation, the pipe must be thoroughly cleaned to remove any debris, rust, or other obstructions that could affect the normal functioning and sealing performance of the check valve. High-pressure water guns or specialized cleaning tools can be used for this purpose.

There are two common connection methods for drain check valves: threaded connection and flanged connection. When using a threaded connection, it is important to ensure that the threads match properly and that the seal is secure. A sealing tape, such as PTFE tape, can be used around the threads to prevent leaks. The direction of the tape application should match the direction of thread tightening, which is usually clockwise.

For flanged connections, it is crucial to ensure that the flange surfaces are flat and clean, and that the bolts are tightened evenly to avoid leaks caused by uneven forces. It is recommended to use a torque wrench and follow the torque values recommended by the manufacturer. During installation, make sure that the valve is oriented correctly. The valve body usually has an arrow indicating the direction of fluid flow, and the valve should be installed according to this direction. Incorrect installation may result in the valve not functioning properly or even causing damage.

After installation, the valve must be tested to ensure that it opens and closes smoothly and that its sealing performance is satisfactory. This can be done by injecting water or gas at a certain pressure into the pipe (usually 1.5 times the working pressure) to check for any leaks. If leaks are detected, the seals should be adjusted or replaced promptly.
