Selection criteria for globe valves
The selection criteria for globe valves are as follows: 1. Globe valves are suitable for use in pipelines or systems handling high-temperature and high-pressure media, such as in thermal power plants, nuclear power stations, and the high-temperature, high-pressure pipelines of the petrochemical industry. 2. They are also appropriate for pipelines where convective flow resistance is not a major concern, meaning that pressure loss is not a significant factor. 3. For smaller valves, needle valves, gauge valves, sampling valves, and pressure gauge valves can be used. 4. In cases where flow or pressure regulation is required but precision is not a critical factor, and the pipeline diameter is relatively small (e.g., ≤50 mm), these types of valves are suitable. 5. In the synthetic chemical industry, for the production of both small and large quantities of fertilizers, high-pressure angle globe valves with a nominal pressure of PN160 (16 MPa) or PN320 (32 MPa) are recommended. 6. In the desiliconization process of the alumina Bayer process, as well as in pipelines prone to coking, straight-through globe valves with a separable valve body, removable seat, and cemented carbide seals are advisable. 7. In water supply and heating systems in urban construction, for pipelines with smaller nominal diameters, globe valves, balance valves, or plunger valves can be used, especially in cases where the nominal diameter is less than 150 mm.
