Technical characteristics of knife gate valve and precautions during use

The knife gate valve, featuring a knife-type gate plate, exhibits excellent shear action and is most suitable for handling fluids that are difficult to control, such as slurries, powdered materials, and fibers. It is widely used in industries like paper making, petrochemical, mining, drainage, and food. A variety of valve seats are available, and electric or pneumatic actuators can be equipped according to on-site control requirements, enabling automated operation of the valve. Materials include cast iron, carbon steel, and stainless steel. The valve is available in sizes ranging from DN50 to DN600, with a maximum pressure of 1.0 MPa.

Precautions and characteristics of knife gate valve products during use:

The gate plate is the opening and closing component of the knife gate valve. The movement direction of the gate plate is perpendicular to the fluid direction. The knife gate valve can only be fully opened or fully closed, and cannot be used for adjustment or throttling. The gate plate has two sealing surfaces. The most commonly used mode is that the two sealing surfaces of the gate valve form a wedge shape, with the wedge angle varying depending on the valve parameters, usually at 50 degrees. The wedge-type knife gate valve can be made as a single piece, called a rigid gate plate; it can also be made into a gate plate that can undergo slight deformation to improve its processability and compensate for deviations in the sealing surface angle during processing, which is called an elastic gate plate. When the knife gate valve is closed, the sealing surface can rely solely on the medium pressure to seal, that is, the sealing surface of the gate plate is pressed against the valve seat on the other side by the medium pressure to ensure the sealing of the sealing surface, which is known as self-sealing. Most knife gate valves adopt forced sealing, that is, when the valve is closed, external force is used to forcibly press the gate plate against the valve seat to ensure the sealing performance of the sealing surface.
