The meaning of a gate valve
The gate valve features a gate plate as its opening and closing component, with the plate's movement direction perpendicular to the fluid flow. It operates only in fully open or fully closed positions, incapable of throttling or regulation. Sealing is achieved through contact between the valve seat and gate plate, often with metal materials such as 1Cr13, STL6, or stainless steel welded onto the sealing surface to enhance wear resistance. Gate plates are categorized into rigid and flexible types, leading to the classification of gate valves into rigid gate valves and flexible gate valves accordingly.
