How are valves classified according to the material of their valve bodies?
Valves can be classified according to the material of their valve bodies: - **Non-metallic valves**: Such as ceramic valves, fiberglass-reinforced plastic valves, and plastic valves. - **Metallic valves**: Including cast iron valves, carbon steel valves, low-alloy steel valves, high-alloy steel valves, and copper alloy valves.
Cast iron valves are suitable for applications under normal temperature and pressure conditions (e.g., PN ≤ 1.0 MPa). For instance, HT200 gray cast iron is commonly used for handling ordinary media such as water and steam. Cast copper valves are suitable for media with pressures up to PN ≤ 2.5 MPa; materials such as H62 brass and QAZ19-4 aluminum bronze are often used in this context. Cast steel valves are designed for high-pressure and high-temperature applications (e.g., PN ≤ 4.0 MPa). Materials like WC1 carbon steel and ZG25 alloy steel are commonly used in such applications. Forged steel valves are typically used in situations involving higher pressures or corrosive media; corrosion-resistant materials such as 1Cr5Mo stainless steel and ZG1Cr18Ni9Ti are often selected for these purposes. In practical applications, the choice of valve type also depends on the type of sealing materials used (e.g., food-grade silicone) and the connection methods employed (e.g., threads or flanges).
