The application range of ball valves
Ball valves are a type of valve that controls the flow of fluids by rotating a spherical element. Their primary function is to enable quick opening and closing, as well as to regulate the flow rate of the fluid. Ball valves are widely used in various industries:
- **Industrial applications**: They are ideal for transporting high-pressure fluids such as crude oil and natural gas, especially in situations where rapid shut-off is necessary.
- **Power and metallurgy**: Ball valves are used in high-temperature and high-pressure steam pipelines as well as cooling systems, for example, in the control of boiler feed water.
- **Pharmaceutical and food industries**: For fluids that require sanitary treatment (such as weakly acidic or alkaline liquids), ball valves made of corrosion-resistant materials like PPH are used.
- **Water treatment and firefighting**: They are used to control the flow of water in water supply and drainage systems. Firefighting ball valves must meet national safety standards.
- **Special media applications**: For fluids containing fibers or particles (such as slurry and sewage), the ball valves’ hard-sealed design effectively prevents wear and tear. For corrosive liquids (such as acetic acid and nitric acid) or radioactive fluids, stainless steel or fluorine-coated materials are required.
- **Space-constrained environments**: Ball valves have a compact design, making them suitable for installation in narrow pipelines on ships, offshore platforms, and other confined spaces.
