ANSI American Standard Valve Model Coding Method
The method for compiling the model numbers of American standard gate valves follows the recommended national standard “GB/T 32808-2016 Valves – Method for Compiling Model Numbers.” The model number of an American standard gate valve consists of seven components: the type of valve, the method of actuation, the type of connection, the structural design, the material of the sealing surface or the lining material, the pressure rating, and the material of the valve body. The representation of these components in the model number is as follows:

Ⅰ (Component 1): Code for the type of valve;
Ⅱ (Component 2): Code for the method of actuation;
Ⅲ (Component 3): Code for the type of connection;
Ⅳ (Component 4): Code for the structural design;
Ⅴ (Component 5): Code for the material of the valve seat sealing surface or the lining material;
Ⅵ (Component 6): Code for the nominal pressure or the working pressure at the specified operating temperature;
Ⅶ (Component 7): Code for the material of the valve body.

An example of the model number compilation for an American standard gate valve is Z41H-16C, which indicates a manual-operated gate valve with a flange connection, a rising stem, and a wedge-shaped rigid gate. The material of the valve seat sealing surface is Cr13 stainless steel.
