How are valves classified according to their principles, functions, and structures?

General classification of valves: This classification method takes into account both the principle of operation and the structural characteristics of the valves. It is currently the most commonly used classification system both internationally and domestically. The main types of valves include gate valves, globe valves, throttle valves, control valves, plug valves, diaphragm valves, cock valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, check valves, pressure reducing valves, safety valves, steam traps, control valves, foot valves, filters, and drain valves, among others.Globe valves, also known as check valves, are used to completely stop or start the flow of fluid. Their main feature is that they allow the fluid to be completely contained within the valve, preventing it from flowing further. Control valves are designed to regulate the flow rate, pressure, and temperature of fluid. Their function is to control the flow of fluid by adjusting the opening degree of the valve. Safety valves serve to protect equipment and pipeline systems by automatically opening when the pressure exceeds a set limit, thereby releasing excess fluid and maintaining the safety and stability of the system. Check valves prevent the backflow of fluid in pipelines. Their primary purpose is to block the reverse flow of fluid, while allowing it to flow in one direction only.
